Open the door to a life that shines with your soul
On Saturday, May 10th, your soul will reach a major turning point!
Your soul will change dramatically through a lecture, dance, sound, and video based on four original paintings by Katsushika Hokusai, who lived his life with his soul.
Hokusai will speak to you.
"To live with your soul means loving yourself as you are now and pursuing the things you love and enjoy!"
Katsushika Hokusai "To live is to paint"
Nasu Shizuno "To live is to dance"
180 years ago, Hokusai painted "Phoenix Glancing in All Directions" at the Gansho-in temple in Obuse, Shinshu. In the early spring of 2024, the soul of Hokusai contained in this painting became a bundle of light and like lightning, it poured down on the body of contemporary dancer Shizuno Nasu. The meeting of two souls came true after many years. The stage performance "Fire and Water HIKARI" is a flash of light born from the chemical reaction of two souls.

Dance of Light: Shizuno Nasu
"Fire and Water: HIKARI" was written, directed, and starred in by Shizuno Nasu. Shonosuke Okura of Otsuzumi (large hand drum), musicians, videographers, and dancers who deeply sympathize with Nasu's thoughts, will be dancing on the stage. Satoru Inoue, author of "Born to Have Fun: Originally Perfect, Now the Best!", will gently explain what it means to "live with your soul."
"Raging Waves: Male and Female Waves"
"Phoenix" "Dragon"

Message from Satoru Inoue
Why are we living like this now?
You were born to have fun.
Are you enjoying the present?
If you are not enjoying it, you are living as a "false self".
The true nature of us humans is the soul, a being of light.
Let's express our shining self.
To live as your true self means to "live with your soul".
A festival of talks and dance "Katsushika Hokusai Fire and Water: HIKARI".
You will surely be awakened to the greatest realization.
"Fire and Water: HIKARI" The motif is Hokusai's four greatest masterpieces from his final years.
Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849) believed that "to live is to paint," and lived his life as an artist, following his soul's lead.
Then, in the final chapter of his 90-year life, he met Takai Kozan, a wealthy farmer-merchant and cultured man from Obuse, Shinshu. With Kozan's warm support, Hokusai enjoyed his days painting original paintings in Obuse, following his soul's lead. Obuse became Hokusai's "sacred land."
We modern people spend our days comparing ourselves to others, evaluating them, and competing (conflict). Hokusai's way of life conveys the happiness and wonder of living not according to others' axis, but according to our own axis, that is, living according to the desires of each individual soul.
Hokusai's sacred place: the lush Obuse town in Nagano
The veranda of Takai Kozan's study. About 180 years ago, Hokusai would take off his sandals on this stepping stone every day and talk with Kozan in the inner room. Obuse still retains the natural scenery that Hokusai loved, and the buildings he saw and experienced are still in use and well-loved today.

Bi-Nichijo:Beautiful Daily Life Project; The Great Wave of Neo-Japonism
Hokusai's landscape print "Under the Great Wave off Kanagawa," which he painted when he was around 70 years old, is known worldwide under the nickname "The Great Wave." This masterpiece gave birth to the trend of "Japonism" in 19th century France, and its waves are still spreading around the world.
A decade or so after creating this world-famous masterpiece, Hokusai visited Obuse, which became his "sacred land."
The large series of hand-painted masterpieces that Hokusai painted in Obuse in his late 80s as the culmination of his life are the ultimate crystallization of a life that shone with the soul.
"To live with the soul is to love yourself as you are now and pursue the things you love and enjoy!"
We will send out this message as a big wave of "Neo-Japonism" and envelop the earth with its waves. That is the purpose of spreading
"Bi-Nichijo: Beautiful Daily Life Project; Katsushika Hokusai Fire and Water: HIKARI" to the world.
Landscape print, "Under the Great Wave off Kanagawa" (owned by the Hokusai-kan Museum). "It is an honor that this painting is still famous around the world. However, my painting skills and sensibility have improved dramatically since I was 70 years old when I painted this. I would like you to visit Obuse, which I loved, and see my masterpieces, original paintings from my final years, which I enjoyed creating with my soul in full swing. The original paintings I painted in Obuse are my masterpieces." (The voice of Hokusai's soul).
Live true to your soul. Live true to what you love. The door to a life where you can shine true to your soul will open.
The world premiere performance at Biwako Hall has attracted keen attention from all over the world.
See you at Biwako Hall on Saturday, May 10th. We look forward to seeing you there with the greatest joy of Hokusai's soul.
